This experiment is powered by people.

These partners help guide the AlignEQ social experiment—bringing experience in emotional intelligence, psychology, leadership, and human behavior. Together, we’re not only measuring emotional intelligence across humanity, but exploring how it can be strengthened to support healthier relationships, stronger communities, and a more connected world.

Jacob McCloud

Co-Founder, AlignEQ

A young man with a red beard, wearing a black beanie and light denim jacket, speaking and gesturing with his hands indoors in front of a large green plant.

Jacob McCloud is the co-founder of AlignEQ and a steward of its global social experiment. As a husband, father of six, and entrepreneur, he has seen firsthand how emotional intelligence shapes relationships, leadership, and everyday life.

Jacob founded AlignEQ with a simple belief: if we can measure emotional intelligence at scale, we can better understand the gaps—and begin closing them. His work focuses on making EQ approachable, human, and grounded in real experience, so insight can turn into meaningful change for individuals, families, and communities.

Kathy Kinghorn, LCSW, CSAT

Co-Founder, Director of Learning & Content

A middle-aged woman with gray hair and glasses, wearing a white top and a green cardigan, sitting in a well-lit room with a lamp and a window behind her.

Kathy Kinghorn is the co-founder of AlignEQ and leads the learning and research behind the experiment. With over 15 years as a therapist and two decades in the corporate world, she brings a rare perspective on how emotional intelligence shows up in both personal and professional life.

Kathy helps guide how emotional intelligence is measured, interpreted, and strengthened across the AlignEQ platform. Her work ensures the experiment is not only thoughtful and responsible—but grounded in practices that support real growth, self-awareness, and healthier relationships over time.
